Going Viral BBC Science Focus

I was Commissioned by Immediate Media to illustrate Aleks Krotoski’s column in BBC Science Focus magazine.

The Going Viral article talks about what can be learned from the virtual pandemic Corrupted Blood which plagued the video game servers of World of Warcraft. Meant to be a short event in this mmo resulted in something unexpected as non playable characters ended up spreading this viral disease to the point where the developers had to issue a patch to bring it to an end.

The article talks about what can be learned from the actual human reaction and interaction towards seeming the flow of this virtual pandemic which ai simulations of this very scenario simply cannot provide.
